Amerind Goes North to Alaska


ESKIMO - EDENIC:  INUPIAC (IN), TLINGIT (TL), and TSIMSHIAN (TS) dialects    [Inupiac, from Northern Alaska, is a member of the Aleut family, with 3,500 speakers. Tlingit is spoken in Southeast Alaska, parts of British Columbia and the Yukon Territory. Tsimshian is from the Alaska and B.C. coast.  Rhett Jackson of Ketchikan, AK made this possible by providing 1) a 1980 dictionary jointly published by the Univ. of Alaska, Fairbanks and the Inupiac Language Commission of Barrow, 2) a Tlingit Phrase Book (2002) from the Sealaska  heritage Inst., and 3) a Reference Dictionary and grammar for the Coast Tsimshian Language (1995).]
