Roots

ACCRUE is “to come by way of increase,” but is traced to an Indo-European “root” ker- 3   (to grow). CERES, the goddess of agriculture, is cited by the AHD because the relevant terms of growth and increase are or were chiefly agricultural.

אגר   AhGahR means to collect, gather, hoard, stockpile (Proverbs 6:8 – the scriptural context is always agricultural).    אגור AGOOR now means amassed or accumulated. ACCRESCENT (in botany, means growing larger and flowering). אגר  Aleph-Gimel-Resh in Deuteronomy  28:39 refers to the maturation of grapevines.

The built-in opposite גר  Gimel-Resh word is   גרע GaR[A]h, to lessen, reduce, deduct (Exodus 5:8, 11).   Such opposites are common to the Engineering of Edenic vocabulary.  They cannot be called sound-alike “antonyms,”  since terms like “synonyms” and “antonyms” in all subsequent languages are derived by chaotic means such as multiple borrowings.

Branches

Cognates of ACCRUE include CEREAL, CREATE, CREOLE, CRESCENDO, CRESCENT, CONCRETE, DECREASE, INCREASE, PROCREATE, RECRUIT and SINCERE.

AUGMENT means “to increase”, like the Latin augare and the Indo-European “root” aug- 1 .   Listed cognates here include AUCTION, AUGUR (to predict), AUGUST, AUTHOR, AUTHORIZE, AUXILIARY, INAUGURATE, EKE, NICKNAME and WAX (to grow).  AGGREGATE means to add to, but it is thought to come from Latin ad (to) plus gregis (flock).

IE “root” ger - 1 (to gather)   is credited with derivative words : AGORA, AGGREGATE. ALLEGORY, CATEGORY, CRAM, CONGREGATE, CONGREGATION, GREGARIOUS, PANEGYRIC.

The stronger source for  these  alleged ger - 1 (to gather) words   is our אגר AhGahR, to gather.

Koof-Lamed/QL and Kahf-Lamed/KL words share sound and sense, by design, with another gutural-liquid, Gimel-Resh/GR. See CULL.

Moving to the built-in G-R opposite, גרע GaR[A]h, to lessen, gave rise to גרוע   GaROO[A]h, worse, in Modern Hebrew.  The same Gimel-Lamed  built-in opposite of   אגר AhGahR allowed for Polish gorzej (worse).

The word for “add”      ? [X291] jia in Mandarin is pronounced like  gahr in the more conservative Cantonese

dialect.  Urban use of a language means corruption, and no urban culture is older than Chinese. Therefore Edenicist George Shen has to reconstruct dropped Mandarin letters by seeking cognates in rural dialects, even other Asian languages.
