Roots

ALGEBRA is officially borrowed from Arabic al (the) + jabara (to reunite).

In Hebrew there's חבור  K[H]eeBOOR (connection),   חבר K[H]aBHaR (to unite), and חבר  K[H]aBHeR (partner, friend), "unitedas one man" -- Judges20:11.

Branches

In Aussie, Down Under slang, a friend is a cobber.  But that;s the rare borrowing friom actual South London Jews.  A Finnish friend is a kaveli; Swahili reverses KH-V-R to rafiki. Unifying tie-ins to Het-Bhet-Resh include K[H]eBHeL (rope, band),  KeBHeL (chain, cable) and QaRaBH (to befriend).

To COBBLE together may be a liquid shift (Resh → L) away from Het-Bet-Resh – see GIBBON.

See CABLE.

Between K]H]aBHeR (companion – Exodus 4:10),K[H]aBHaiR (to charm – Deuteronomy 18:11) and K[H]aBHeReT (wife – Malachai 2:14) there is a possible source for the researcxh behind the strange Indo-European “root” of FRIEND, pri (to love). Listed cognates of FRIEND include AFFRAY, FREE (see FREE), FILIBUSTER, FRIGG (wife of Odin – shift Bhet to F and move the Het to the end ), its Old English derivative frigedaeg, later FRIDAY and SIEGFRIED. Greek love, philo, is not linked to Indo-European pri (to love).

For a liquid-bilabial love term , see LOVE. More guttural-bilabial-liquid binding at BALE.
