BAMBOO is from Malay bambumeans a hollow, treelike grass with jointed stems. (Similar nasalization in Italian bambino+ baby.)  אבוב ABOOBH means hollow pipe or tube derived from jointed reeds or knotgrass, an extension of  אבה   AiBHeH (reed - Job9:26). The earlies Semitic nasalizations of Aleph-Bhet-Hey (reed) are recorded at BAYOU.
