English Word

Hebrew Word

[T- BH → DV]

Godly, heavenly, excellent

Latin divus means divine or god. Latin deus is god, deity. The Indo-European base deiwos (god) is related to the Germanic god Tiwaz and Old English tiw (god), source of TUESDAY. The Assyrian deity  DTe[V]eS or DTe[V]eT (Esther2:16) is used to name a month of the Jewish calendar. The Indo-European “root” of DIVINE is said to be deiw (to shine).

Just as God is good (see GOOD),  טוב DTOA[V] (good) is DIVINE. The term  טוב DTOA[V]  is often used as a name and/or attribute of God. "Praise the Lord for He is good”  טוב DTOA[V]  or טוב   DTOABH  - IChronicles16:34.

The opposite of good is bad, but Indo-European bhad is good. Hebrew ט-ב Tet-Bhet , DT-BH (good) is bhad reversed, and is the source of dobry (the Czech, Polish, etc., term for "good").  In Russian it’s dobre.  Derivatives of IE bhad (good) include BATTEN, BETTER, BEST and BOOT. Add APT and FIT as reversals of DTOABH. DAB and DABSTER infer good or expert skill. Sanskrit DEVA is the Hindu god or good spirit; devah means god, and deva is divine.

Tibil is good for the Maya Indians, while the Dakota Indians reverse to wa(s)te.  Tsub is good in Navaho.

DIVES, from Latin dives (rich), recalls  DTOO[V] (prosperity, wealth).

Lithuanian/Baltic  dievas  is good.  Evidence that the R in Slavic  “good” is not the historic root.hunchback

The IE “root” deiw (to shine. . . sky, heaven, god) takes in ADIEU, DEICIDE, DEITY, DIAL, DIARY, DIET, DISMAL, DIVES, JOVE, JOURNAL, JOURNEY, JOVIAL, JULY, JUPITER, MERIDIAN and ZEUS - but why put faith in godless lexicography?

(May)DTeeYBH is well-doing;  (HaY)DTeeYBH is to do well. These verb forms of  Tet-Bhet / T-B  resemble the BT in BEATIFIC and BEATIFY. Beauty is the fourth definition of DTOOBH / TB. Reverse the TB again to see BEAUTY. The reversed TB of BEAUTY and of BEAST (see BEAST) is found in the TSiBHEE (beauty, gazelle) at DIVE.

JUPITER, listed above, is believed to be from Jove as pater or father. This is difficult, because 1) pagans didn’t yet have a deity as “father,” and 2) Latin Juppiter indicates an identical sound being doubled, rather than an attempt at “Pater Jove.”  Yod-Phey-Tahf, יפת     JaPHeT, is the ancestor of the Indo-Europeans (Genesis 10:2) and is a likely source of a name like JUPITER.  Ancestors are often deified, and Japhet was the patriarch of the Indo-European branch of mankind.

יפת     YaFet or Japhet means ethetics, the guiding principle of European culture.  יפה YaPHeh  is beautiful – Genesis 12:14 ; YiPH[A]H is beauty --  Ezekiel  28:7.

In Korean, yeppun is pretty; in Cantonese a  similar cognate means orderly.  Balance, order, grace, design, etc. are all hallmarks of Japhetic culture.     טוב DTOABH. in Persian  is reversed to fayde (good). .
