CINNAMON is an acknowledged borrowing from Hebrew   קנמון QiNaMOAN (cinnamon — Songs4:14).   It is significant to note how the Latin cinnamomum took on a soft C (S) from its Greek source kinnamomon.  The Hebrew may be from   מין קנה MeeYN QaNeH (a species of reed or cane).    See CANE   and  MINISTER.
