Roots

FINICKY is defined as "fussy," "hard to please" and "too dainty." The AmericanHeritageDictionary speculates that FINICKY is "probably ultimately from fine."

Both   פנק FaNaQ and   פנג FaNaG  mean soft and tender, as in spoiled children,   פנג but  FaNaG specifically means a savory sweet cake (Ezekiel 27:17) invoking the FINICKY eater  מפנק   MiFooNaQ means "spoiled" or "pampered."

PaNaQ or FaNaQ in Proverbs29:21 is translated as "pampered" (JPS) or "brought up delicately" (KJ).

Branches

FINICAL is related. The PINKIE finger may be named for its small, delicate size. PINK is of unknown origin (see PICTURE); it can infer a carnation, a pale red, the "finest condition" or the highest degree of excellence ("in the pink of health"), or a verb of adornment.
