A taxi CAB is from French cabriolet (a horse carriage), whose etymon is traced back to Latin caper (he-goat). Branches

CABANA is from Late Latin capanna (hut), and CABARET is from Old French cabaneret (little hut). CABANE and CABIN are likely from the Hebrew hut word above. The CABOOSE (cabin house) of a train is another form of QooBaH (arched compartment). Even CABINET meant a small room before it meant a kitchen storage area or the body of advisers who meet in a private alcove. The French cabinet is a toilet, a small room or ALCOVE to take care of bodily business.  The Italian toilet is gabinetto.   Many a presidential CABINET also demonstrates links to toilets, brothels and sleeping compartments.

גב GoaBH was the "den" of Daniel; חפה   K[H]ooPaH (canopy),    יקב YeQeBH (wine cellar) and   כף KaiF (CAVE, vault) are more of the habitable K-BH cavities relevant here. French cave is a cellar. Qabwe in Arabic means compartment, as does kupe in both Swedish and Danish. Kiva in Hopi Indian is a large room or dwelling. The  Arawakan:Terena  (Amerind) of  the Amazon basin have a reversed guttural-bilabial house word: ovoko

[ David Funnell].

COOP, HIVE and GABION are attributed to etymons that strongly resemble the second CAB in the dictionary - the Hebrew dry measure. This CAB is attributed to "qab, hollow vessel." Hebrew   קב QaBH (IIKings6:25) is related to a verb of hollowing out.
