The word GIBBERISH is addressed in the entry: WORD

English Word

Edenic Word

Hebrew Word

German Wort, or the older Yiddish vort (word), is from the

ד-ב-ר Dalet-Bhet-Resh of דבר Da[V]aR, (word, thing – Genesis 11:1).  This requires a M231metathesis, the initial Edenic dental following the bilabial-liquid core-root, instead of preceding it. Perhaps the dental shifting from Edenic D to Germanic T, shifted back again to D for the English WORD.

The non-word wer -6 is the Indo-European “root” for WORD.  It means “to speak,” and is allegedly the source of IRONY and RHETORIC.  You are welcome to take the American Heritage Dictionary’s word for it, or to examine the full consequences of      דבר   Da[V]aR at Genesis 11:1.   The ten “Commandments”

( KJV -- Exodus 34:28) are actually  דברים DeVaR(iM), and are better rendered “words,” statements,” “utterances” or even “things.”

דבר   Da[V]aR meaning both “word” and “thing” echoes the thesis of Edenics and of Ralph Waldo Emerson who wrote that “words are signs of natural facts.”  Words as creations is a concept beyond the field of secular linguistics.

The two-letter sub-root of   ד-ב  Dalet-Bet is found in דבה  DeeBaH, report (Genesis 37:2).  The opposite of a factual report is the reverse, ב-ד  Bet-Dalet, בדא    BaDAh to invent, concoct or lie (I Kings 12:33).

Shifting to ב-ט Bet-Tet, בטוי BeeDTooY means uttering, pronouncing or expression.

Dabir  means  word in Old Irish.   The Swedish “word” is ord, and orda is to speak. Swedish ordna, to arrange or order, is so close as to suggest some confusion with giving a verbal ORDER (also   דבר DaBeR), and ORDER (arrangement).  For a parallel etymology/EMeTology, see WORLD.

A master of rhetoric is the BARD.  The same M312 metathesis of ד-ב-ר Dalet-Bhet-Resh gave us German wort, Yiddish vort and the Gaelic/Irish bard.   An M23 metathesis gets us to the Irish word, briathar, brethre .   The   ד    Dalet/D has shifted dentals to TH.   See “BARD.”

Man is the only speaker, מדבר MiDaBeR, but the buzzing bee sounds like it is speaking. More scientifically, the bee’s dance is the most elaborate communication in the animal kingdom. A bee is a דבורה  D’[V]oaRaH.

The name of the prophetess in Judges 4:4 gives us DEBORAH, DEBRA and DEBBIE.

מדבר   MiDBaR can mean speech in Songs 4:3.  It is unrelated to the similar wilderness word, מדבר MiDBaR – Genesis 14:6.  This is made up of an MD measurement element (see METER) combined with a BR wild element (see BARRIO). מדבר MiDBaR is a “stretch” of “uncultivated” land.  “Speech” and “wilderness” do converge in the Hebrew Bible, in the forty years of speech or Revelation on the trek to the Promised Land. Similarly, the דביר D’BHeeYR (innermost part of the Temple, the Holy of Holies) was a place of speech of Revelation (YJS).

Daled-Bhet-Resh / D-V-R talking words in French include:   bavard  (chatterer),      bavarde (chatty)  and bavarder (to jabber, tattle or speak extemporaneously).

J is often like DJ, so JABBER (no Indo-European “root”) is from  דבר  DaBHaR  too.

Dictionaries guess that JABBER is either imitative, or a form of GIBBERISH .

GIBBERISH does mean confused speech, and is from  a mixed up  ערבל     GHaRB aiL  (mixed) – see GARBLE.   There is an M132 of the Ayin-Resh-Bhet root;     ערוב   GHiROOBH is a mixture, confusion.   JABBER means chatting constantly, not necessarily in a mixed-up fashion.  But once the reference books settle on a phoney etymology they will  subsequently bend the definition to fit.
