Roots

Greek hairesis means "a taking, selection, school, sect and heresy." HERETIC is traced to Greek hairetikos (able to choose, heretical), from hairen (to choose).

בחר Boa[K]HaiR is to choose (Deuteronomy30:19);  חרות   [K]HayROO(S) or [K]HayROOT (in standard Israeli pronunciation) is freedom; [K]HaRahR is free (Ecclesiastes10:17).  For the Het-Resh subroot of openness, see HOLLOW.

Branches

HOAReH is a parent and HOARA'aH is instruction, while  [K]HayROOF is blasphemy. Some adolescent rebellion may be accompanying a gruffer voice change.

The Het-Resh  root of free and open choice takes on spatial terms at HOLLOW.        Uhuru means freedom in Swahili (Trekkies will recognize the name of the African communications officer.)

Hiraita is "open" in Japanese. Chiros is freedom in Gaelic.

Heresy can be hard to spot . The Estonian heretic, kotser , underwent an M132 metathesis.

For a harsh guttural “free” word from חרות   [K]HayROO(S) or [K]HayROOT – see GRATIS.

חרות   [K]HayROOT is free, as engraving frees or cuts away stone – see CHARACTER.
