OldNorsehaki is a hook;the alleged Indo-European “root” is keg (hook). חכה  [K]HaKHaH or K[H]eeKHaH is a fishhook (Job40:25).  or angle.   חכה K[H]aKHaH means waiting in Isaiah 30:18. The Aramaic is similar.  The scholars could not, but folks who get out some can see how angling and waiting are closely related.

HAUNCH ES are curved like an anatomical HOOK; the N may be a nasalization.
