Roots

It should not be difficult to best the proposed Indo-European “root” of KILN: pek w (to cook, ripen)

For a KL heat word, there is קלה   QaLaH (roast -- Jeremiah 29:22) – see CALORIE. A KR oven word is כור KOOR (furnace – Deuteronomy 4:20). כיר KeeYR is a hearth or cooking furnace (Leviticus 11:35 – see HEARTH). חרה K[H]aRaH is to burn – see CHAR.

K+ liquid opposites are at “CRYOGENESIS.”

Branches

Alleged cognates at KITCHEN. The Spanish horno (oven, kiln) suggests a guttural-liquid etymon.
