Roots

The Indo-European “root” of LIGHT is leg w h (light, having little weight).

Old English liht is linked to Old French leger (both meaning light, of little weight).

The ultimate LG or liquid-guttural etymon of lightness is ק-ל Koof-Lamed, קל QahL (light, swift – Jeremiah 3:9; 46:6 ). The ק-ל Koof-Lamed has to be reversed, with the ק ¬†Koof having shifted gutturals from Q to G.
