Roots

PROSE is given the supposed Indo-European “root” wer- 3 (to turn, bend).  The best historic etymon to be found is Latin vertere (to turn). PROSE is spoken language, as opposed to literary poetry.

ספור $eePOOR is a narrative or telling. To tell, relate (Genesis 40:8), or declare (Psalms 19:20, ספר $aPeR as a verb is either verbal, or an accounting of numbers – see GOSPEL.

An M321 metathesis or full reversal lets one hear PRS from SPR. דבור DeeBOOR is speech (Exodus 4:15) – see WORD.

Branches

A liquid shift lets one hear SPL. German spiel is a theatrical play, also about rhetoric. This is how GOSPEL means good (spoken) news.   A magical SPELL is an audible formula.  SPR speaking terms like ANSWER and SWEAR are at GOSPEL.
