[S(H)- S(H)]

Latin sex (#6) and the Indo-European “root” s(w)eks do dominate the Germanic languages, but note how the Hebrew six,   שש SHaiSH  ( Six , #6

-          Genesis1:31) fared in the table below

Arabic and Swahili - sit(t)a

Basque - sei

Bengali - chay

Chinese - sz'

Czech and Serbo-Croatian - shest

Dutch - zes

French - sis

Gothic - saihs

German - sechs

Greek - hex

Italian - set

Kurdish, Afrikaans – ses

Latvian and Lithuanian - sesi

Luri - shis

Norwegian and Danish - seks

Polish - szesc

Portuguese and Spanish - seis

Rumanian - sase

Russian - shest

Sanskrit - shash

Swedish – sex

Welsh - chwech

Edenic SHaiSH did quite well, especially when considering how conservative a hard K sound tends to be.

X and S are not so far apart. BORAX, for instance, is initially from Old French boras and ultimately from BoaReeY(S).

Cognates of SIX at IE “root” sticks include: HEXA-, HEXAD, SEICENTO, SEMESTER, SESTER, SESTINA, SEX-, SEXT(AN), SEXTANT, SEXTILE and SEXTODECIMO. The Hebrew SIX is related to  שש SahS (tobe happy) – see PEGASUS and SahSOAN (rejoicing – Jeremiah 7:34) –  see SEVEN (satiety) and EIGHT (fat, excess).

If the sexy SEX is not from the clinical Latin secare, to cut, as if the sexes were like political sects, then TSa[K]HeQ may be involved. This word for sporting or laughing is specifically SEXY in Genesis 26:8 and 39:14.  The Eskimo term for sexual activity is “laughing with” someone.

Rabbi  Lt. Col Yehoshua  J. Steinberg  (YJS) reports from Ft. Bragg, NC: The root Shin-Shin has three meanings:    1) the number six,  2) silk and  3) marble.

1.  is above ,

 2.   Rashi (Exodus 26:1, based on Talmud Yoma 71b) says that the silken fabric is called שש  SHaiSH    because each thread is woven "six times" (with six fibers, or wound six times).

3. Marble  שש SHaYiSH is composed of limestone or dolomite, both derivatives of Calcite. Pure calcite is 100% calcium carbonate (CaCO3) which is crystallized in hexagonal form. (SIX-sided).

Ibn Ezra, adds another word to the שש  SHaiSH family, namely שושנה   SHOASHaNaH   (lilly or rose -- Song 1:17) , a  flower with six petals.
