SOPOR, a Latin sleep term, and SOPORIFIC are likely relatives.  The SLP in SLEEP and SLuMP are  an M132 of SHaPHaiL, and something often done on a SOFA. HYPNOSIS and other HYPNO- words are cognates of SOPOR at Indo-European “root” swep (to sleep). SUB- and SUPPLE are cognates of SUPINE. See ASPHALT.

To sit is sekba in Maya Indian, relating to S-BH words here or (S(HaKHaBH (to lie down, to sleep – see   SUCCUBUS). Like Shin-Bhet, Japanese suwaru is to sit.
