Roots

VIVA Edenics! Long liveetymology that binds us together, not divides us by race.  VIVID (animated, lifelike) is traced to Latin vivus (living, alive) and the Indo-European “root” g(w)ei (to live). This theoretical root never lived. See HYGIENE.

VIVACIOUS (animated, sprightly) is a match for אביב   A[V]eeY[V] (spring-like) as   אביב   A[V]eeY[V] means the springtime (Exodus13:4) and botanical VIVIFICATION (Exodus 9:31; Leviticus 2:14).  The two-letter root of this natural REVIVAL is Aleph-Bhet. אב A[V] means greenness or freshness in Hebrew.

A key life-giver is the   אב A[V] (father) – see   ABBOT and OF.   A deathly Aleph-Bhet built-in opposite is אבד A[V]aD (perished) – see   OBITUARY.   YJS adds that the many doubled   א-ב   Alef-Bhet words here from the  אבוב ABOOBH (hollow reed – see PIPE --  belong here as taking in life  through this PIPELINE.

Branches

Given cognates of VIVA and VIVID include AEROBIC, AMPHIBIOUS, BIO-, CONVIVIAL, MICROBE, REVIVE, SURVIVE, VIABLE, VIAND, VICTUAL, VITAL, VITAMIN, VIVA and VIVI.

VIVIAN, a name which anticipates the modern Tel-Aviv (hill of spring), celebrates the spring-like qualities of life --not merely life as the absence of death. Italian eviva! (long live!) is typical of Indo-European cries of viva!  “To live”  in French is vivre.

If words like VITALITY or names like VITALY are not related to our Bhet-Bhet etymon, a M213 metathesis of   תבל T e[V]eL (spice, that which enlivens taste) may be involved, since TVL or VTL can be the spice of life. Quick (alive) and VITAL words are linked to רהוט ReeHOODT (quick), with the ר  Resh/R as WR, later V – see VITAL.   R, W confusion is at  NEW,

More  א-ב   Aleph-Bet lifegiving at ABBOT and PIP.
